Standard Series P Bass Special

Why the Squier Standard P Bass Special?

The Squier Standard P Bass Special 4-String Bass Guitar was a "best-of-both-worlds" combination that made perfect sense to a lot of bass players. It featured the more compact P Bass body, the slimmer J Bass neck, P Bass split-coil pickups in mid position, and a J Bass pickup in the bridge. Other features included rosewood fretboard, traditional butterfly machine heads, one tone and 2 volume controls, and a 3-ply pickguard. Original manufacturer's retail price was $479.99, original list price was $299.99.

I fell in love with the P Bass Special the first time I ever played one. I was surprised at the quality of the instrument, though not using materials as high-end as its big Fender brother, it was plenty good for any level of musician (see photo). I, like many players, prefer the combination of P body, J neck, and mix of pickups. The great thump of the P with the growl of the J. Since there has never been an over-abundance of information available on these instruments, I decided to create this online store-house of all the information I have found, scouring the Web, and present it here in a straight-forward, easy to read format. I hope you find it enjoyable...almost as enjoyable as the basses themselves!
